Doggies

And some of the cute poochies!

Beautiful Marggie

I love when the animals sit down in lovely light!

Long exposures and kitties

Many many weeks ago I went to a party at my friend Tony’s house and played around a bit with my camera.

Experimenting with a light painting technique. Thanks to my lovely models, Jeanne and Greg.

Playing with the kitty. I accidentally stepped on the poor little guy during the light painting. Luckily he forgave me pretty quickly.

Tilf-Shift lens weekend

When I rented the snazzy tilt-shift lens for Lynnette and David’s wedding last month, I took it around the neighborhood and to a cookout. Play time!

I love this effect on the trees

We had a few dogs roaming the grounds at the cookout

And of course the star of the show!

Jasper and Cleo

I am pleased to introduce everyone to the newest members of my household: Jasper and Cleo! I adopted these two sweet 11 year old kitties from the Anti-Cruelty Society in downtown Chicago two weeks ago, and they’ve adapted quite well to my house. They had become such good friends at the shelter that the staff determined one would not be adopted without the other. Perfect for me, as I was looking for 2 cats to adopt at once. They’re super friendly and are both lap cats (though Jasper is rather large to fit on my lap – he often falls off). Now if only I could cure Jasper of his obsession with eating toilet paper…

Gavin

I went to a movie night a little while back, where each time I walk into the house I’m greeted by 120 pounds of excited, slobbery, great dane awesomeness. Meet Gavin. He’s still a puppy (his full size will be about 180 pounds), and thinks he’s about 20 pounds with the way he wants to sit on your lap.

Ranger Rick Magazine

Did anybody else read Ranger Rick Magazine as a kid? It’s produced by the National Wildlife Federation, aimed for kids 12 and under or so. Back in December I was contacted by a photo editor from Ranger Rick. He had found an image I had taken of mom’s sweet old dog Jake with a chain of dandelions on his head that my sister Janna had made last spring. Apparently if you type “dandelion chain” into Google Images the photo shows up in the first page! He happened to be looking for an image to illustrate a tiny article on dandelion chains, and figured this would be fitting. Just a month ago I found out that it was chosen for the April issue and I received a check soon after, so I knew it was for real!

Mango and Maggie

Janna’s cats are former foster animals of my mom’s; I had met them originally at home soon after Mango and her siblings were born. These two are adorable, and very sweet.

Euphrates and Jitter Bug

Last weekend I took some time and headed down to Kentucky to visit a few good friends. First stop was Lexington with Karen and Bryan and their fabulous kitties Euphrates and Jitter Bug.

Neal and Connor

I shot this quick batch of Neal holding Connor the bunny last week just before he headed out the door.
