I love photographing repeat clients. Eddy and Nicci were married five years ago, and I shot their ‘secret mission’ wedding (parts I and II) and their not-so-secret reception. I traveled to San Francisco a few weeks ago and was quite happy to be able to see these two again.
Activities during photo session are great fun. When I asked Nicci what sorts of activities are important in their lives, she responded “quilting and reading aloud to each other.” I was quite intrigued with them reading to each other, so I followed up with further questions.
Aside from reading, every photo shoot needs some skipping and Monkees walks. Thanks for the fun afternoon, you two!
About a month ago I prepared an anniversary post on Facebook for my parents (43 years!), and went searching for a portrait of the two of them. I realized that the most recent portrait I had done of them was five years ago! So the next time I visited, I made sure to carve out some time for updated ones.
We went to the barn, and dad immediately went searching for props. And of course no portrait session in my family is complete without at least one animal (the darling sheltie, Iszy).
I convinced dad to drop the props for just a few photos. They’re so cute!!
Katy and Hugo traveled from Alabama to tie the knot in Manhattan and spend a beautiful weekend in the NYC area. I had a wonderful time exploring Central Park with them for some fun portraits.
I helped my sister and her husband again last year for their holiday card. I’m always a fan of something that will stand out on a wall full of cards, so I suggested a chicken hat. They decided to dress in concert black for the shoot.
Their final choice was the one with just Lucy (on the left). While Cooper (on right) was visiting, I thought it was only fair that he be included in the dress-up fun.
What fun holiday card ideas have you seen? I’d love to hear!

My family’s gatherings are always fun and full of animals. This particular Thanksgiving there were seven dogs and ten humans, so you can imagine the noise level when all were together. This is actually a rather overdue post, for these are from Thanksgiving 2011.
It seems no matter their sizes, many dogs still consider themselves lap dogs
Lovely food arrangements

Marggie, the sweet old girl of the bunch
I love getting a portrait of all dogs in attendance. From left to right: Lucy, Marggie, Baxter, Cooper, Iszy, Tanner, and Cassie.
I had seven dog wranglers assisting me for this shot. The video at the end of this post showcases the entire turn of events. I decided to try the same things as the previous year, which was to have all humans hold the dogs in place, then all at once the humans would run out the photo, hopefully leaving the dogs in place for a split second while I capture the portrait. The first time I tried this I thought it might actually work. This time I did it just for amusement factor.
I always enjoy getting together with other entrepreneurs to exchange business ideas and find out more about interesting businesses. My friend Elyse decided to host an evening for her women entrepreneurial friends, which I was delighted to attend. There were short presentations, yummy food, wine, and excellent conversation. Throughout the night I explored the space and took a few fun portraits.

I had the pleasure of working with Michelle of Haute So Sweet, a local cake baker, to create new images for her website. She brought in one of my favorite makeup artists, Anni of NYC Faces, so I was excited to work with such a great team. As a bonus, we got to try a cake pop at the end of the shoot… yum! The nutella cake pop was amazing.
For Caroline’s birthday, a couple surprises were in the works. Her boyfriend Stefan was flying in from Germany (where Caroline and her parents are from), and her mom arranged a portrait session with me for an afternoon. What fun! I had a great day exploring the Upper West Side and Central Park with this adorable couple.
